Tiffany Sterling

Well . .. I was sifting through realms of reverbnation artist  - just adding people to my account when I bumped into Underground Logic. They looked interesting . .so I pushed play and . . Wow! I was blown away.

The tracks on that player were mostly R&B, but it was obvious the band was used to playing various genres of music. The lead singer, Tiffany Sterling, had a bass player and guitarist on her side  . . as well as a drummer - the basic set up . .only her tracks were recorded with samplers and keyboards. I wasn't sure why she needed a live band. . But when I got to the last song on that reverbnation page . .her band was playing some form of alt/rock.

All of her songs were good, but what amazed me was her friendly nature and her (Tiffany Sterling, lead singer. . . .) willingness to get back to me on interviewing her for this blog and magazine. Upon reading her bio on that reverbnation page, I learned she had recorded with Baby Face, Dr. Dre, and Timberland. How she was able to rise up so high is a good question . .but I might answer this question in some detail after writing this entire article.

If you were to listen to the player on reverbnation. . . you could see why she almost got a deal with Babyface. He's a top R&B producer and she was singing R&B. But after interviewing her for the magazine we'll publish, she explained she had a lot of videos produced featuring rap and hip hop. She explained Gangsta On Em was so vicious, I'd run away and hide. Actually, I checked her out and realized the video did include some violence and sexual innuendo . . but it was a really good video or R&B video . .I mean . .she has produced rap . .but she's heavily influenced in R&B and has a fantastic voice. So getting deals with Dr. Dre and Timberland seemed exciting . . but an R&B producer seemed more likely than a hip hop. I might be wrong. . . but when she was invited to Dr. Dre's studio . .Eminem showed up. This was the top moment for her after meeting Dr. Dre . . .but after getting to know a few other artist, she had bumped into the wrong rival who was also Caucasian (Tiffany is mixed - African American and Caucasian . . ) and sang R&B. It became known (after spending time in LA . . ) that Tiffany was hit by a young teenage driver and was sent to the hospital. Tiffany sued and was awarded enough money to furnish a new recording studio and possibly a few videos. Her production level was definitely high grade and her brand looked as though she was performing for a major record label. Fortunately, she's making advertising money on the popularity of her music videos. Her youtubes are that popular. So how did Babyface find Tiffany Sterling. I believe she must have promoted herself on youtube and had done enough touring and concerts to grab attention. Most artist rely on social networks for exposure . .but luckily, Tiffany was able to put together a group and spread the word.

Why she put the band together was also interesting. She was getting sued by her neighbors for playing loud music in her studio  . .when she realized all the sampling she had been recording was infringing on other copyright owners, she, then, decided to write he own music behind her vocals and protect her interest with a live band. I assumed she had practiced and recorded in live studios with a band instead of recording loud music in her home. Regardless, her band, Underground Logic, was promoted and she, eventually, got record deals with Dr. Dre and possibly Timberland. It is my opinion that touring and playing shows will bring up a groups youtube faster than relying on a social network. I'd say facebook is the best social network to spread the word – your friends could make a video go viral . . .but when it comes to promotion, a live band will get the word out faster than most home studios.

So, Tiffany and Underground Logic are rising to the top. I'll list three of her videos at the bottom of the page. Her group is a class act . . .After being signed to record deals, several times, I'm sure her next album will be on someone's record label climbing the charts. The whole package is that good. Check out www.reverbnation.com/undergroundlogic for future concert dates. . . .
