Luvah is a new up and coming hip hop rapper I saw at a club in Washington, DC called the Red Lounge. She had spent a few years dancing in videos till she switched roles and decided to become a rapper. Her soundcloud mix tape is excellent and Azur Magazine feels Luvah will practially become a house hold name in the record industry within the next coming years. Luvah will be featured in the 1st issue of Azur Magazine and she'll be listed as a top article.

Ok . .I'm enjoying myself at a club called Red Lounge on 14th st. and Ust. . .where several rappers take the stage on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Wednesdays are usually low in crowd volume . .down to about two couples in the back, on couple near the bar and me watching the show . . .but, oddly, about thirty people walked into the venue on this particular night. A female college looking student began dancing to the beat, in front of me. A group of young men sat near the bar and began laughing and drinking. Before I could ask what was going on . . .a femal rapper, named Luvah, took the stage. . and turned this sleepy little club out for about 20 minutes. Everyone began clapping and having fun. The beats were fat and the club was alive . .till Luvah said goodbye and thanks before leaving the stage. In about 10 or 15 minutes, I was, basically, sitting alone in the audience . . waiting for the next act to perform. The club was practically emty . . .and I had realized everyone who had crashed the scene was here to see Luvah. So . . .I woke up after her performance . .got in touch with a few people from the club . . .and found Luvah's soundcloud. I was able to locate this popular rapper from the Red Lounge and speak with her. She was cordial and very easy to get along with. Here is what she had to say . . . . Azur Mag: We got Luvah in the house, right now . .and she's telling me that, basically, some of the gigs at the Red Lounge are whack . . . Luvah: (laughs) . . . Azur Mag: I mean . . that last gig . . .Every body was there . . .there was like twenty or thirty people for you . . .and the minute you walked off stage, every body left . . . Luvah: (Laughs) . . I know . .but . . .half the people, there, I didn't know . . .They were just in the party mood . . . Azur Mag: Dag . . .then they left too . .I mean . . .I didn't even know you knew those people . . .Every body left . . . Luvah: right . .(laughs . . ) I bring the party . . . Azur Mag: Yeah . . .definitely. . . .Alright . .so Why did you name your musical concept Luvah . . .? Where did you come up with the name , Luvah . .or why did you decided to use that name. . .? Luvah: My uncle, back in the day, use to call me Stef Luvah . . .and I just took the Stef off . .like Luvah. . .(laughs . . .) . . .and when I was a dancer . . .hip hop dancer. . ..my nick name was Luvah . . . Azur Mag: Oh . . ok . . . Luvah: I just kept that . . . Azur Mag: How long have you been dancing? Luvah: I've been dancing since I've been five . . .I just, recently, messed my knee up . . . Azur Mag: Oh . . ok. . . Luvah: Yeah . . physical therapy for that . . . Azur Mag: Have you danced in any videos . . or . . .who have you danced with? Luvah: I was dancing for the Screen Tour . .for two years . . .and I did a video with . . Tabi Bonnet . . . Azur Mag: Oh man . . ok let me switch directions . . um . . .What style of rapping would you consider your rapping to be? I mean . . is it just rap . .or is it just hip hop . .or . .is it a particular type of hip hop? Luvah: Naw . .it's just hip hop to me . . . Azur Mag: Ok . .that's cool. . Yeah . .I was reading another bio from another artist . . and he was saying that . . .there are all these genres . . .of hip hop . . .I was like . .dag . . .I was thinking there might be . .like . .southern hip hop . . .or. . .mid west hip hop from Chicago . . . Luvah: Right . . .I just go with the flow . . .we have no . . like . .set genre for me . . .what ever I think sounds dope . . . Azur Mag: Do you compare yourself to female rappers like Lil' Kim . . .and . . or do you have your own style . . . Luvah: Oh no . . .I'm not them . . . Azur Mag: Naw . . yeah . you definitely have your own thing . . . Luvah: I mean . .I listen to them . . .I love them . . .I'm not trying to sound like them . . .I'm just trying to sound like me . . . Azur Mag: I noticed your beats . . your beats . . were really good . . .Do you program your own beats? Luvah: My cousin . . .made two of my beats, for me . . .and one I bought off of youtube . . . Azur Mag: Which one did you buy off of youtube? Luvah: Just Fax .. Azur Mag: I'll have to . .check that out, again . . .cause . .all the beats were really cool . . I liked what I was listening to . .but I'll go over that . . .again . .. .um . .Have you been promoting your music . . long? . . . Luvah: No . . . Azur Mag: Oh . .ok . . Luvah: Not at all . .I just started . . rapping last year . . .and . .like . .the first time anyone had heard my music . . was my first show . . . Azur Mag: What made you want to start rapping . . . Luvah: . . .because I'm a performer . . .and I couldn't dance no more. . .so I had to find . .another way to get on stage . . . Azur Mag: Oh . . .you hurt your knee so you . . .decided to go into rap . . Luvah: Yeah . . .(laughs . .) . . .It sounds crazy, right? Azur Mag: No! Which one do you like better . . .Rapp'n or the dancing . . .? Luvah: I can't tell you which one's better . . .I like them both . . Azur Mag: Ok . .. Luvah: They're both my passion . . . Azur Mag: . . .ok . . .What kind of record deal . . um . .support are you looking for .. or what kind of record label support are you looking for? Luvah: Like . .what you mean . . ? Azur Mag: Like . . .I'm sorry . .are you looking for a record label at all . . .or . . .are you looking for any kind of deals . . .? Record deals . . Luvah: . .um . . .no . . .I wasn't . .like, right now . . .but if one comes my way . . .I'm definitely with it . . You know what I'm saying . .I'm not out searching . .cause I'm like . .want to get my music out, first . . . Azur Mag: Yeah . . Luvah: So when people try to look me up . . .it wont be like . . .nothing . . .I want people to know who I am . . .You know what I'm saying. . .? Azur Mag: Well . .I mean . .. you definitely have the crowds coming out for you . .so you know what you're doing . . .Ok . .so . . .where do you record your music? Luvah: Um . . .my first two songs I recorded in my basement . . .My causin came with all this equipment and we recorded in my basement . . .and then I started recording in this studio called Fly Zone . . . Azur Mag: Oh . . .I think I've heard of them . . .Where are they based out of. . .? Luvah: It's in Maryland . . .I don't know if it's Temple Hills . . or. . Capital Heights . . . Azur Mag: Ok . . . Luvah: Cause . .I don't know the drive there . . Azur Mag: Did you find them through DMV Life? Luvah: No . . Azur Mag:No. . .? Luvah: I just heard about them . . . Azur Mag: Right . . . Luvah: Like . .yesterday . . . Azur Mag: I was going to ask you . . .what kind of equipment are you using . . .Do you use Pro-Tools? Luvah: Yeah . . .Pro-Tools 10 . . . . Azur Mag: Ok . .that's cool . . .um . . .How is your twitter support coming along? Luvah: Um . . .I have to make a twitter . . . Azur Mag: You don't have a twitter? Luvah: I don't own a twitter . . . Azur Mag: Cause I saw . . . Luvah: Well . . .I use to use it with a best friend . .but my best friend got killed so I deleted it . . . Azur Mag: Oh man . .I'm sorry to hear that . . . Luvah: Yeah . . .I'll have to make another one. . . .I have to make another one. . .. Azur Mag: No . . I'm sorry to hear that . . . Luvah: No . .that's ok . . . Azur Mag: Alright . . .so . . .What sample did you use in "Alive" . . .? Luvah: You said what? Azur Mag: That song . . ."Alive" . .that you have on your soundcloud . . . Luvah: Oh . .that's the Rick Ross beat . . .The Devil was a Liar . . . Azur Mag: Oh . .really . . . Luvah: Yeah . . . Azur Mag: Dag . .I should know that . . .um . . .What does Ugly Low do on the cut . . "Boss Shit"? Luvah: He's a rapper . . .He does the last verse . . . Azur Mag: Oh . . he's a rapper . . . Luvah: Yeah . . .he did the last verse on "Boss Sh*t" Azur Mag: Oh man . . maybe I didn't hear it long enough . . . Luvah: Oh . .yeah . . (laughs . . .) Azur Mag: Sorry about that . . .Alright . .Do you program your own beats . .or does a producer do it . .? . .You've already answered that one . .so you said you got one beat from youtube . .and the other two beats . .what did you do for those two . . .? Luvah: My cousin made those for me . . . Azur Mag: Oh . . ok . . .so . .Do you know what he programs with . . .? Luvah: Pro-Tools. . Azur Mag: Oh . .Pro-Tools . . . Luvah: Yeah . . every body uses Pro-Tools . . . Azur Mag: Yeah . .every body says Pro-Tools . . .I'm just like lost . . in everything . .because I don't even have Pro-Tools . . .I'm just like . .asking the same question over and over . . ok . .Do you plan to record more tracks for . . .an album concept . . . Luvah: Yeah . .I mean . .it's a mix tape . . . Azur Mag: So . . .how many tracks do you think you'll have . .on the mix tape . . ? Luvah: Thirteen . . . Azur Mag: . .about thirteen . . . .How many tracks do you have, already . . ? Luvah: I have ten . . . Azur Mag: Oh . .you got ten . . .? so . .Are you going to sell it . .or are you going to put it all on soundcloud. . ? Luvah: I'm going to . . .I'm not going to sell it . . .I'm going to pass it out . .and send it on a Cd . .I'm going to put it on soundcloud . .you know what I mean . . .? Azur Mag: Oh . .cool . . . Luvah: I'm not going to sell it . .and don't no body know me . . You know what I'm saying . . . Azur Mag: Yeah . . .I know . .
