A featured rap star in the documentary: The Lone Star. He is seen discussing his points of view on making it in the rap industry and touring. His music is a mixture of great sounding samples from the jazz era and present day tunes we love to hear including Black Sheep and Doug E Fresh. His beats are interestingly unique and create an appetizing package for a rap album . . .

Sterl Le Moor is from a community of talented people . . .especially the director and creator of Lonely Road Media -- the film works accentuate Sterl's next, new video, The Next MLK .. .a very good video and a top notch presentation . . .Sterl's music delves into jazz and early 90's samples from famous hip hop artist . . yet still has a unique quality and interesting sound. I was able to meet Sterl via Twitter and we sat down and had a conversation about his current work and his future endeavors. Here is what he had to say . . . Azur Mag: Atually . .I was reviewing the Rapwanabes. . .but you have a soundcloud album that's pretty good. . . What made you decide to use the Black Sheep sample on "**it Happens"? Sterl: Well really . . I was just kind of . . .I wanted to do a whole record . . .That's where I get my inspiration from . .those 90's era . . songs . . so . . .when I . .came up on that beat . . .I made a drum pattern . .and of course . . .I kinda modeled it after the Wu Tang . . .sound . .and . .when I was listening. .to it over, again. . . .I just kind of . . .thinking about samples . .and what songs would be good . . .and . .Black Sheep came to mind . . .I just . .lined it up with the drum pattern and I liked how it sounded . . so I went with it . . .You know what I mean . . .I play a lot of these productions that I make by ear . . Black Sheep fit the drum pattern . .and . . .I ran with it . . Azur Mag: Yeah . . .90's songs are so old you can just. . . bite off of them . .right? Sterl: Yeah . . just to bring back those memories. . . I don't have any problems with making an album from scratch . .I feel like . .sampling is what bridges . . .the generational gap in music. . .I try to reach back . . and bring something from the past. . . Azur Mag: It's a good song . .I like it . . .Let'a see . . .On . ."Don't Know Me" . . .Oh yeah . .that was a track without beats . . .What made you decide to do it that way . . .That was a good song, too . . . Sterl: Ahh. . ."Don't Know Me" . . . .? Azur Mag: It's kind of like a spoken word kind of thing . . . Sterl: . . .I'm a hip hop artist . .but I'm really into the jazz . . .sound . .and when I actually came up on that . . .the sample first . . .I had sampled an old guy. . .You know . .classic . "If I Ever Fall In Love " . . . . and . .really . .when I . . .came up with that idea .. .I was thinking about the concept of . . . . .really . .the sample in the concept are more related . but It's really to show my face . . I mean . .I know you people don't know who I am . . .but . .here I am . . .and . .ahh . .because of the slowness of the beat. . .and the gap . . it really allowed me to. . .kinda open up . . like a spokent word . . .and just kinda express myself. . . . So . . .I did that . . . Azur Mag: Right. . . well.. . On the MLK . .why. . .are you feeling more like MLK . . on that song. . .? Sterl: Really . .I think it was needed to be said. . .and no one was talking about it . . .of course we had the news . . .You know. . . . .talking about police brutality . . .but I noticed. . in my area. . .there wasn't enought people utilizing their talents. . .to promote that message . . to our youth . .and I really made that song . .for . . the up and coming generations - try to remind them . . .of . .what's been going on . . .because .. you know . . .if you don't pass on that history . . .it becomes forgotten. . .and so . .that was really my . . drive . .behind that record. I really wanted to bring a couple of things to notice . . .that people don't really talk about. . .and basically the whole concept was to show . . .the audience that . .really things haven't changed as much as we think that they have . . .and so . . .I was very passionate in that effor in that . .. and so . .coming up with the next MLK . . .I wasn't really saying I was the next MLK . .but that was kind of like a fore-running . . .that who ever he may be . . .he's on his way. Because history is, clearly, repeating itself . . .and so . . .it's only right . .that . .there's another MLK type figure that will come along . . .or in some time . . . Azur Mag: Oh . .ok . . .ahh . . .You have 471 followers . . .on your soundcloud. Have you been on soundcloud long? Sterl: Ahh . .. I've been on soundcloud for about two years, now . . .two years . . . Azur Mag: Alright . . Now, . . .Tjonez . . .Have you been working with him for long . . as a producer . . . Sterl: Yeah . . .He's actually one of the first producers I've . . .linked up with . . but we came from the same city . .so . .I was really vibing with the kind of track he was making . .a great producer . . .He's already industry ready . .but he's still trying to get his stock up . .and his name out, as well . .so . . I like to play with people like that . .to reach a common goal . . . Azur Mag: Yeah . . "Changes" was good. I like "Changes" . .. but ahh . ."Top Flow" . . the one he produced for you was real good, too . . .the one you rapped on . . .so . .How did you two meet? Sterl: Well . . .we ended up going to the same college . . and .. .ahh . . .I quickly found out he was making beats way before I was . .but . .. ahh . . . he actually . . .is who gave me the program . .and taught me how to make beats . . .so . .that was around 2011 . . .and . .ahh . .ever since . .we've just been going at it . . .We still meet up to this day . . .about ideas and new . . .you know . . .songs we're trying to make . . or. . .new moves we're trying to make . . .so . .great chemistry between me and him . . . Azur Mag: I was watching a really quality video called The Lone Star . . .Was that your venture . .or . . did some body come to you and say they wanted to film you? . . How did that all come about? Sterl: That was actually a personal idea . ..I always looked at my life . . .through a lens . . .and so . . .ahh . . also . .coming to school . . .I met a . . .I was able to meet an aspiring director . . .and . .me and him got together . . .and . .came up with the idea to shoot this little . . .short mini web series . . .about . .ahh . . .basically . . .what I did . . .kind of in a step fashion to get where I am. . .in my career . . and . . I felt like it would be a good idea . . for the next generation of up and coming artist to .. see . . to make it more real to them . . .and then to make it more possible. . .and so . . I think it was a great effort in that effect . . .You get a chance to see an episode? Azur Mag: I saw an episode . . the episode two . .The one featuring: "Who Is Sterl Le Moor". . .and Episode three . . ."The Show" . .I think. . . but . .what I saw was excellent . . .I mean . . really good film work . . .ahh . .let's see . . .What was the Soul Fest about? Sterl: Well . .Soul Fest was my first opportunity to peform in front of my peers . . and . . it was put together by . . .a radio organization . . .from my university. . .and . .I'm a part of that organization . . .so . .they reached out to me . . .and . . .asked me if I'd like to show case . . .amongst friends . .and . .other students . . . .faculty . . .and . .of course I was down for it . . .I'm always open to . .ahh . . .different avenues of promotion . . .and so . . .I was able to get togther with them . .and we came up with that event. . .It went really well . . . Azur Mag: Yeah . . that was pretty good . .. you were saying you had a problem with . . .the CD player and everything . . .some body had skipped it . .or . . Sterl: Yeah . . we had . .ahh . . .I tried to give one of my . ..fellow . . .MCs an opportunity to perform . . .one of his songs at the end of my set . . .I guess . .when he went up there to give them one of his CDs . . .the sound man thought that . . .he told them to play it . .right then and there . . .and so . . .he ended up putting the disc in. . . .and the song played over the song I was performing . . .That was the first time that ever happened . ..any kind of a sound complication had happened . . .so. . .of course . . it was an experience . . .I wasn't satisfied with the performance . .but .. .hey . . .you just have to adjust accordingly . . . Azur Mag: (Laughes) . .. Right . . . yeah . . .I see your point . . .but . . do you do a lot of gigs yourself or . . .was that your first gig? Sterl: Ahh . . .that was my first one . . .Actually . .that wasn't my first one . .it was the first one in front of people I know . . .but . . . about my third show . . .I, generally, go out there and try to get the gigs on my own . .but . .you know . . .We're old fashion in that effort . .just going to shows . .meeting promoters . . .you know . .and just trying to set up my own thing . . .but now I'm moving on to trying to host my own event . . .so . . .We're always climbing the ladder . . . Azur Mag: It looked pretty good . .It looked professional . . .How about Lonely Road Media . .Was that your friend . .the director you were talking about . . .? Sterl: Yeah . .that's . . .his film company that he's starting . . from scratch . . .I mean . . he's doing a lot of things fo me . . .We're in the works for a music video . .but he is trying to get on to . . .bio pics and films . . .That's his thing . . .He's heavily influence by the John Singletons and the Spike Lees . . .of the world . . .so . . .Lonely Road Media is more directed toward . . .in that area . .but since me and him . . . work together . . .we kind of came up with . . .our musical ideas, as well . . . Azur Mag: Oh . . .yeah! I would really like to see some videos with you two . . .together . .I mean . . that's going to really be nice . . .Ok . .do you have any last word for the audience? Sterl: Ahh . .. just. . . .Sterl Le Moor . .up and coming . . .MC . . .follow me . . .ahh . . .soundcloud.com/sterllemoor . . . . .and just be on the look out . . .We got a Texas movement coming . . .and . . when it comes it's going to be crazy . . .
